Are you interested in exploring your faith?

Or Maybe becoming a member of the Catholic Church?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults – RCIA

An exploration of the Catholic faith, the process of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, has its roots in the very earliest days of the Church, when communities were anxious to pass on their new found faith in Jesus to others. The RCIA course is open to all who would like to know more about the Catholic faith, especially those who are considering becoming a Catholic (whether a baptised Christian or not). The course is also suitable for active or non-practising Catholics who wish to explore their faith in more depth.

You will embark on a journey where you will get to know Christ better and deepen your relationship with him, which could change your life forever. On the journey, you will meet people who are seeking Christ in their lives, like yourself, and finding the way to answer his call. You will meet other Christians who are witnessing to their faith, to the teachings of Christ and his Church. The whole parish community journeys with you and supports you with prayer as you prepare to be welcomed into the worshipping community. The course is delivered in one evening session per week over several months. This may lead up to being received into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil although is by no means compulsory if candidates feel they need more time or if their presence on the course is purely for personal faith development.

All are welcome whatever their interests and needs!

Topics explored in depth using the Catechism, scripture and other accepted sources will include:

  • Old and New Testaments
  • the Trinity
  • the Lives of Jesus and Mary
  • sin and forgiveness
  • Baptism and Confirmation
  • the Eucharist
  • marriage, death and resurrection
