The church hall attached to St. Edward’s Church is used for many activities both specific to the church (eg. church group meetings) and for the wider community.

Facilities
We have a large hall, marked out for badminton, with toilets attached and collapsible tables with stacking chairs. There is also a smaller meeting room with disabled access containing 20 comfortable padded chairs, meeting table and equipped with whiteboard, 37″ TV panel and video/DVD. A screen can be rolled back to incorporate this Lower Room into the hall itself. Upstairs there is a larger self-contained meeting room with four tables, padded seating for 30, kitchenette and equipped with whiteboard, TV and video/DVD. This room is not suitable for disabled guests due to staircase access. All rooms have use of a large kitchen with cooker, double sink, fridge, microwave, crockery, etc. and use of a toilet with baby changing facilities.

Availability and Access
The Hall is not available during Sunday mornings, Holy Week – Easter and Christmas-New Year periods and any event must end by 9.30pm. We ask that you tidy up after use, particularly ensuring that the toilets and kitchen are left as they were found. All heaters and lights must be switched off and the doors locked securely. There are two ramp entrances and an adapted toilet for disabled guests using the hall or lower room.

Parking
Whilst you can park your car down the driveway to unload close to the kitchen entrance of the hall, your guests may not park there, nor at the front of church which is reserved for disabled church users, wedding and funeral cars. The best place for your guests to park is London Road car park, just a short distance further into town, as The Grove is for residents only and is regularly patrolled by wardens.

Other Information
If there are any children or vulnerable adults taking part in classes or events other than private parties, we are obliged to advise you of your need to ensure CRB clearance is in force.

We are registered with the Environmental Health Department of the local council. Other than for private parties, you should contact them if you are intending to use the kitchen for food preparation and cooking for the wider community, to ensure that they are satisfied that you have the appropriate certification. External caterers hired for your function must also be registered with their local authority. You can look up the company via this link on the Food Standards Agency website  http://ratings.food.gov.uk/ or by contacting your local Council’s Environmental Health Department.

We hope that you and your guests enjoy using our facilities.
