Pastoral Notes May 10th, 2015

Jumbled dates ?
We have a series of feast-days coming up, which still may seem a little awkward for some. ‘Ascension Thursday’ is now celebrated on the (next) Sunday. This obscures the original nine days of prayer (novena), the Church, with Our Lady, in prayer for the coming of the Holy Spirit. (There is nothing stopping us keeping that novena, of course). So the feast of Pentecost will then follow the Sunday after the Ascension Sunday, and the subsequent two Sundays devoted to the Holy Trinity and to the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), when we have invited all our local parishes to join us at St Edward’s School, 3-4.00pm for a Blessed Sacrament procession around the grounds. So, following a General Election, we have the perspective of our Christian faith, where God’s kingdom is proclaimed and lived day by day.
