Pastoral Notes 2nd October, 2016

ONE TEACHER – MANY TEACHERS
In the Gospel Jesus is recorded as saying, You have one teacher, the Christ – and yet he sent out his disciples to teach all nations. It seems an appropriate time also to thank you for our teachers, and to remember the religious sisters who have been with us in Kettering – briefly some Franciscan Sisters in the early 20th century, later Ursuline sisters from 1938 to 1954 and then our own Sisters of Our Lady who have been with us since then, for over sixty years. Evidently the Superior in Germany, where the Sisters originated, thought it wise to send many Sisters abroad in 1933, with great foresight in those threatening times. Some came to England, but not to Kettering until 1954. We pray for them all at this time, those still with us and those who have died – may they rest in peace.
