Pastoral Notes 29th June, 2014

WHAT WILL THE BISHOP DO IN OUR PASTORAL AREA ?
Some points from our 3rd June Meeting of our Deanery Council (Corby, Kettering, Oundle, Thrapston, Raunds).
1) 4 full-time priests (the bishop says) would probably mean: 2 in Corby, 1 in Kettering, 1 in Thrapston.
2) The help of other priests in the area (retired etc) will continue.
3) The 4 priests would need to be flexible in helping out across parish boundaries.
4) All churches are determined to remain, keeping the communities together and a Catholic presence in their towns with services each Sunday.
5) Some Sunday Masses in large churches could be dropped.
6) Some leadership deacon/lay should be in place in each church. Services of Word & Communion where there is no Mass.
7) Serious concern about the availability of the Sacrament of the Sick.
8) Tasks taken on in administering, caring for our parishes to be acknowledged and strengthened.
9) Among lay members, continuing our prayer for God’s kingdom! More details on Noticeboard.
