Pastoral Notes 26th November, 2017

According to Homeless Link, the number of people sleeping rough in England has risen by 134% since 2010 and in Kettering this is visibly the case. Project “Safe Until Daylight”, in conjunction with St Edward’s, will be Kettering’s answer to the harsh winter exposure those sleeping outside would otherwise face. The hall will be used to give people a safe warm sleeping space between 10pm and 7.30am each night during the coldest months of the year. The project will target those in real need by requiring guests to obtain Borough Council referrals. The plan is to implement a small pilot project in early 2018 with a view to providing more substantial winter services between November and the end of February in subsequent years. It would be beneficial to the project if a few parishioners of St Edward’s were to become involved in the steering committee. If interested please contact Canon John or email
