Pastoral Notes 24th August 2014

The Catechism of the Catholic Church (no. 1669) says that “every baptised person is called to be a ‘blessing’ and to bless”. To bless those around us and the places we live and the food we eat, in prayerful sincerity. This has a real sanctifying 3effect and is both our joy and our privilege. It is true that the Catechism also states: “the more a blessing concerns the life of the Church and the sacramental life, the more its administration is reserved to bishops, priests and deacons”, but we must not be shy or reluctant to use our own God given authority to “be a blessing and to bless”.
