Bishop Peter will be visiting the parish over these two weekends. He was born in Blackburn, Lancashire in 1944, but ordained priest in June 1968 for Portsmouth diocese, where he worked until he was made bishop of Northampton in June 2005. Our diocese was founded in 1850, along with six others, when the Catholic bishops were restored in England and Wales. At that time the diocese also included the whole of East Anglia (Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire), which then became a separate diocese in 1976. The bishop will be present this weekend at St Edward’s 6.00pm (Saturday), 8.00am and 10.30am (Sunday) as well as St Nicholas Owen, Burton Latimer. Next week he will be present at Desborough and Rothwell and at the 7.00pm Mass at St Edward’s. He has now been our Bishop for almost ten years and will have met many of the parishioners on the occasion of Confirmation Masses, but also at services in Northampton Cathedral and at many meetings regarding the future of our local pastoral area parishes. Please keep him in your prayers..
