Pastoral Notes 11th March, 2018

Two patron saints have their feast in the month of March – St David (520-589 AD) patron saint of Wales and St Patrick (389-461 AD) patron saint of Ireland. St Patrick is very well-known. As a boy he was captured and enslaved, only to escape, and in due course return to Ireland to proclaim the Gospel, an outstanding example of forgiveness and responding to harm with charity. His mission to Ireland was outstandingly successful. By the end of his life he was able to preside over a synod of bishops in Ireland, following in the footsteps of St Paul the apostle.
