Pastoral Notes Growth of the Global Catholic Climate Movement

The Global Catholic Climate Movement is a global network of 400+ member organisations – including the Columban Missionary Society – and a community of Catholics responding to the Pope’s call to action in the Laudato Si’ encyclical. From September 1 to 4 October, Christians around the world prayed for and took the initiative to care for creation during the ‘Season of Creation’. An Online Prayer Service on 1 September brought leaders and faithful together. In the Philippine capital of Manila, 5,000 people – including Columbans – joined Cardinal Tagle for a “Walk for Creation” and Mass. In his homily, the cardinal called for a “culture of true caring, of true responsibility for the creation of the true God”. (
