Pastoral Notes 10th April, 2016

A NEW SCHOOL TERM
We often have appeals from missionary sisters or brothers. The Sisters of St Peter Claver who made the recent Appeal were very grateful for everyone’s contribution. Missionaries have regularly been involved in having schools established as has happened in Europe over the centuries. Our own Sisters of Our Lady look back to a foundation in Germany, and the inspiration of St Julie from France. On 7th April, last Thursday, was the feast of St John-Baptist de la Salle, a French priest who founded an Order of teaching brothers. One school was established in Ipswich, Suffolk for many years, in London, and elsewhere. As we begin the summer term for our own schools in Kettering, we might remember all staff and pupils in our prayers, with gratitude for the dedicated work of many years in our parish.
