St. Thomas More Primary School Year 5 Residential Trip, May 14-16th 2008
OUR THREE DAY TRIP TO THE LOFT
by Holly Smith age 10
Last week our class went on a residential trip to the Loft near St. Albans. The Loft is a Christian retreat centre. We left St. Thomas More at about 9.15 am on the 14th May. It took us about 2 hours to get there. When we finally got there we were split up into 3 groups, Doctor Who, Martyrs ‘r’ us and my group, the Teletubbies! There were young people from all over the world come to help us and were our team leaders. Our group’s team leader was Sebastian, from Germany.
Most of our activities were outside – even in the pouring rain! My favourite activity was space game. You have to get your whole team from the moon, across space and to earth using your moonboots. But, you cannot let go of your moonboots otherwise they fly up into space. Our team got soaked because it was raining.
You have supper at Specs Diner, and after meals, you get free play. You can either play football, basketball, play in the adventure playground or see the guinea-pigs. The beds were very comfy and you go to bed at 10.00 pm. The Loft has its own chapel too, a small room on the ground floor. You go there every morning, afternoon and evening. I really recommend the Loft, it’s a great place to be.

Church Choir
by Isabel R. St. Thomas More School
We started the Parish choir a few months ago. We practice every Monday after school with Mr. Murphy and Mrs. Tipping. We always sing really good hymns. We have sung in church a few times and are singing again soon. One of the best things about choir is Mr. Murphy and Mrs Tipping make the practices fun and how they always explain the meaning of the hymns and go through them with us. That's why I like the Parish choir.
