Covid – An Important Message for Sunday 2nd January, 2022

An Important Message from Fr Gregory
Dear Parishioners,
I would like to inform you that Fr Ebin has been tested positive with Covid. He is isolating in his flat on the top floor. Thankfully, he is feeling relatively well. Please keep him in your prayers.
I went and had a PCR test this morning and I am waiting for the result, which will come within 48 hours. I will also take a LFT every day.
I have therefore decided, that Sunday’s Mass cannot take place, unless I test negative.
If I am negative, I will go ahead with the Sunday Masses at St Edward’s, taking extra precautions:
– No altar servers on Sunday. The sacristy will be accessible only for me.
– I will read the Gospel and preach the homily from a different space than the lectern.
– I will not give Communion, but I will ask the Eucharistic Minister to do this for me (Communion from the tabernacle only).
– I will not greet people after Mass.
On Thursday 30th December at 7 pm – the church will be open for private prayers and adoration only. I will offer Mass intention – for Catherine Byrne RIP – privately on that day.
On Friday 31st December at 10 am – the church will be open for private prayers and adoration only. I will offer Mass intention – for Peny Cwynarski RIP – privately on that day.
If I am Covid positive, I will ask one of the priests to cover all Sunday Masses at St Edward’s.
In Burton Latimer, there will be no Mass, but  I would like the church to be open for the parishioners for private prayers. I will offer mass intention – for Amy Lyons int. – privately.
All these decisions have been taken on the advice of the Diocese.
This is a very unfortunate situation. Thank you for your understanding. I would be grateful if you could spread the word.
God bless you all,
Fr Gregory
