Pastoral Notes 5th January 2014

Last Tuesday we received the following sad news from Bishop Peter: “It is with much sadness that I write to let you know that Father Joseph Williams died suddenly while out shopping on Friday 27th December.  He died in his car, parked by a supermarket.  Although there has to be a post mortem, it would seem that he died of natural causes.

Aged 42, Father Joe was ordained priest on 1st July 2000.  He served as an assistant priest in Burnham, Bucks and in Kettering (2002-2006), before moving as Parish Administrator to Biggleswade in 2006.  From 2008 to 2011 he was Parish Priest of Our Lady of Lourdes, Milton Keynes, and then from 2011, Parish Priest of St Martin de Porres, Luton”, where he blossomed.  We will remember him as a dedicated priest, fine preacher (always without notes) and speaker (we heard him speak 40 minutes without notes on the spiritual legacy of St Benedict!), and friend.  Our prayers are for him, his family and parish. May he rest in peace.
